Ethos
The defining spirit of LPC—to be intentional about disciple-making and equipping Christ-followers to live a mission-driven life of worshipper and servant to fulfill the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:34–40) and disciple and missioner to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19–20). Springing from theology, core values forge ethos and serve as a practical guide for living by faith.
Worshipper
As worshippers, we are created for relationship with God as we know and experience him and as we exist in community with others. Relationship is the whole of connection between self and all other realms of existence. Life’s created intention is to glorify God in relationship. Real life is only found in relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
In Christ, we are rescued from hell to relationship with God, which provides life purpose. In relationship the church is the bride of Christ preparing for his return.
Disciple
As disciples, we are designed for authenticity through God’s truth, the Bible. Sin creates desire within to be what we are not, should not, and cannot be: God. By God’s kindness that attracts us and draws us closer to God, mercy that spares us from that which we have rightfully earned and deserve, grace that grants us what we do not deserve, and truth, we are transformed into life’s created intention by the renewing of our mind (Rom. 12.2) as we follow Jesus (Luke 9.23).
In Christ, we are redeemed from sin to live in authenticity with God and one another which provides life meaning. In authenticity the church is the family of God growing together in his image.
Servant
As servants, we are called to expression by serving others. All people are created with a unique design of passions, abilities, talents, and gifts to glorify God as they serve to meet needs in Jesus’ name. Every person holds a unique potential for glory that God desires. It is his and must be expressed for his glory.
In Christ, we are reconciled to the Father to glorify him by expressing the life he has given us which provides life satisfaction. In expression the church is the body of Christ serving to meet needs in Jesus’ name.
Missioner
As missioners, we are compelled to mission by sharing the gospel with the people of the world. Neighbor to nations we no longer view the world from a human worldly perspective but are sent with the ministry and message of reconciliation.
In Christ, life is re-defined as ambassadors of God to the world which provides life fulfillment. In mission the church is the army of the Lord advancing his kingdom purposes to all people.
